A visual analysis of English textbook “Pathway to English 3” used by Indonesian senior high schools

This paper focused on analysing the visual values found in Pathway to English 3 textbook. In conducting this research, a descriptive qualitative approach was used. The content analysis model applied. data taken from an textbook published by Erlangga 2015 entitled 3. A documentation used collect data. examined based Kress and Leeuwen (2006) complementarity. There are three results of research. First, most participants employed human (53.4%). Meanwhile, non-human mostly object participants. Second, terms interactive meaning, supports medium shot (69.5%) oblique perspective (54.9%). All pictures book black white (100%). Additionally, (81.7%) images have background. Last, compositional it that more presented be informative (38.6%) rather than illustrative (34.8%) decorative (26.6%). Furthermore, dominant positions top/bottom position (60.7). conclusion, can serve pedagogical purposes supporting students completing tasks follow pictures.
